Easy Natural Switches - The simplest changes you can make very easily... and why you should!

November 01, 2013

Hi all,

This week I wanted to share with you some super simple switches you could make without even trying! I guarantee that all of these 'alternative', 'natural', 'green' or 'DIY' options are all less expensive, easier and just as effective... if not better! Why not give some or all of them a try?

DIY Deep Repair Hair Masque
I have another blog post about this, click here to read it. You only need one or two inexpensive ingredients and it will work better than any store bought deep conditioner I have ever used. You may want to watch my video, if you do please click here

Natural Oil as Moisturiser
I use Coconut oil on my body and Organic Rosehip Oil on my face. I've tried out various different oils to find what works for me but Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, Rosehip Oil and Jojoba oil are all good places to start your own search. A large jar of very high quality, organic, raw, fair trade Coconut Oil costs around £15 but will last me the best part of a year! It works so well on the sensitive and dry skin on my body while the 'dry' Rosehip oil works perfectly on my oily, acne prone face. Rosehip is also excellent for anti-ageing so I am getting a jump start on the wrinkles before they take hold!

Oils as Make Up Remover
Most make up removers are oil based anyway as they work so well, why not skip a step? You can watch my oil cleansing method video here for a visual on how effectively natural oils can remove make up. I'll be honest I do sometimes cheat and just use a baby wipe when I am feeling lazy but 90% of the time I use natural oils to remove my make up.

Honey as a Face Wash/Face Mask
Honestly, it sounds worse than it is! I promise you it is not sticky or messy. I have a whole video on this, click here to see more. For under £3 I get about 3 months worth of (daily use) face wash. It helps keep spots and blemishes at bay, it is moisturising and you can use it as a face mask as well. Instead of washing it off immediately you can leave it on for 20 minutes and feel how super soft and supple your skin is after using it.

Crystal Deodorant
Although it is a bit more expensive to buy initially it lasts a lot longer than a regular deodorant. I found this switch extremely easy and have found something that keeps odours away without upsetting my sensitive underarm skin. I have done a review of a specific brand that I like, you can click here to read further. (Or watch my video here)

After Sun
Never, ever, ever, NEVER ever again will I spend £6 (plus) on a shop bought after sun! Instead you can buy Aloe Vera gel or, even better, grow your own. I will do another post/video on this and go into more detail but essentially Aloe Vera does the job better than the shop bought stuff and costs a fraction of the cost (especially if you grow your own!)

DIY Body Scrub
This is another no-brainer. Just mix together sugar and a natural oil for the most moisturising scrub you have/will ever try! I go into more detail in this blog post here or you can watch the video here.

DIY Body Wash
Just two or three ingredients mixed together will give you a SLS free, moisturising body wash to use in the shower. It froths up just as well and you can pick/make your own scent or leave it unscented if you wish! I find this great for my sensitive skin and cheaper than the Body Shop shower gel I used to buy. Granted it's not cheaper than some of the store branded shower gel but it is not expensive and much better for your skin. I have a video about it here.

So, those are the simplest switches I think you can make. They are all very easy to do, are less expensive and just as (if not more) effective. Please give them a try, I am sure you won't regret it! I certainly didn't.
