How to Thread your own Eyebrows - and Why it is Better For You!

November 14, 2013

Hi all,

Threading has gained popularity recently and is now very much a mainstream hair removal option. However it can cost as much, if not more, than waxing in a salon.

What is threading?
A cotton thread twists around each hair, pulling it completely from the follicle.

Why is it better?

  • It removes the hair completely from the follicle meaning longer between removal sessions and sparser re-growth.
  • No risk of a wax burn or reaction to the product being used.
  • Does not lift or tear the skin.
  • Less pulling on the skin which can cause premature ageing.
  • I believe it is more precise and gives a better shape.
  • I find I have less redness after threading than waxing.
  • No dangerous chemicals - just cotton thread against your skin.

How do you do it?
The quick and brief answer is: you twist a piece of thread and then use your thumb and forefinger to move the thread across your unwanted hair.

The more detailed answer is in my video:

  1. I've never tried threading before but am very tempted now - I never actually knew about the disadvantages of waxing before, so I think I might try threading and see how it compares. Thanks for the helpful post :) x

    1. I started getting my eyebrows threaded about 2 years ago and have been doing it myself at home for at least 6 months now... If you do give it a go let me know how you get on! Or even blog about it?! That would be great to read! :-) thanks so much for stopping by and for your comment, Rach xx
