Green Beauty Character's Tag

December 09, 2013

A big, big thank you to Sarita Coren of ediblefacial.com for tagging me, my first ever tag! I feel so special :-)

Here are her answers on her blog ediblefacial.com

This tag was made by Sonja of lifeinblush.com and it really is a great one to get stuck into... So, here we go...

on my nightstand you’ll find: Not much! I like the minimal, clean and tidy look! I have a box of tissues, a picture of my daughter (from a few years ago! How time flies!) and a big bottle of sesame oil... I leave that one out so I remember to do my oil pulling in the morning!

the literary character I’m most like is apparently Lucy from the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S.Lewis (according to this quiz). But, I would have said Hermoine from Harry Potter as I was always teachers pet; the geeky book worm who would have done anything for her (true) friends, even if it meant getting into trouble!

I’m currently obsessed with: Blogging! I seem to be finally hitting my stride, I have so much to say and so little time to write it all down!

my favourite superhero is: Erm, I've never been much of a super hero kinda girl. I like Mystique from X-men as she is sassy, sexy and makes no apologies for who she is - I wish I could be half as confident as her!

favourite beauty product of 2013: Has to be Sweet Almond Oil, I use it for hair, skin, nails, make up remover, and more!

if I could have dinner with anyone dead or alive it would be: Since the age of about 14 my answer to this questions has always, and probably always will be: Shakespeare. I just want to know how serious he was when he wrote the sonnets, were they actually a personal love story or did he 'bang' them out to make some cash as he was a bit short at the end of the month?? It makes me chuckle that we read so much into what he wrote when really we have no idea what he was actually getting at, we can only have our theories.

winter is coming – how do you prep your skin for battle? Oh goodness, I don't think I am ever prepared for winter... Just keep the water intake up and the lip balm to hand! (p.s. this is a deliberate Game of Thrones reference right? I love that show!)

my perfect date night makeup consists of: A smoky eye, bit of colour on my cheeks and a hint of colour on my lips - pretty simple but I am not much of a make up wearer on a day to day basis so I don't have to go heavy to look made up!

my go-to skin-beautifying snack/drink is: Water! in copious amounts!

my tv boyfriend is: Patrick Dempsy aka McDreamy *swoon*. I love Grey's Anatomy and he is such an integral part... plus THE HAIR...

if my evening clutch could only hold one beauty item it would be: Lip balm. I feel much prettier with soft lips and my DIY lip balm adds a bit of dewy-ness. I told you - I don't do much make up! Also, once I've put it all on once I can't be bothered to do it all again!! If it fades, rubs or smudges then to hell with it! I'm too busy having fun to worry about what I look like... take this picture as an example...

one beauty tip I would pass on to my real/fictional daughter is: keep everything simple. Hair, make up, skin care, diet, etc... keep it all simple! Don't buy lots of different things or change them all the time. Keep it simple and it will work well, I think this applies to life in general as well!

the most nostalgic item from my childhood is: oh my, this is difficult! I think the film 'Homeward Bound' - the one about the two dogs and the cat that have to find their way home across America. I loved this film as my brother and I used to watch it and then 'play' it after. I would always be the cat (Sassy) and he would be the younger dog (Chance) and I would 'win' (I don't remember how!) which meant he would have to say, 'cats rule and dogs drool'!!! haha! This brings back good memories of fun times with my little bro (who is now much bigger than me and getting married next year! Again, time really does fly!)

my favourite tv show of the moment is: I enjoy 'Awkward' on MTV (it's about a
teenage girl and is narrated through her blog. I don't watch much TV, I am busy being a mum, Blogger, YouTuber and working! I do watch A LOT of YouTube videos though, that is my TV :-)

my favourite quote is: "'Sometimes', said Pooh, 'the smallest things take up the most room in your heart'" I realised the truth of this once my daughter was born. Now we have that written above her bed. (Can I get an 'Ahhh!' lol)

So, there we have it! My first ever tag... I think I learnt something about myself there, do you feel like you got to know me??

I tag: Rinica of subjectbeauty - because we chat loads on Twitter so I'd love to get to know her more :-) also, my swap partner Amber of ambersbeautytalk for the same reason! I think everyone else I follow has been tagged or has done the tag!

  2. Rachel, I LOOOOVED reading your answers. Yes, I do feel as though I got to know you better and it makes me so happy that I tagged you. YAY!

Your quote is so perfectly true. I love Winnie the Pooh - especially when years ago I read 'The Tao of Pooh' and understood its inherent wisdom. (Or at least the wisdom that the author of the book was reading into A. A. Milne - HA!)

You have a great attitude about simplicity and being too busy in your joy to give a hoot about whether or not your makeup is smeared. That's just great! As I grow older, I find that I don't even like how I look with so much makeup and that keeping it clean and natural suits me just fine. Then I read somewhere that more mature women must stay away from red lipstick and I laughed and said too bad! (Fortunately red looks dreadful on me so there's no chance of me sitting in a rocking chair with a pop of red on my lips.)

I'm so happy we met on Twitter and now I'm following your blog too. It's great and I look forward to reading more of it.

    XOXO

    1. Ah Sarita that has to be the nicest comment I have ever had on my blog! Thank you so much for all your lovely kind words! I was having a long, hard day yesterday and this brightened it up so much and made me smile.
I will have to read, 'The Tao of Pooh' it sounds very interesting. I will look it up.
The red lipstick thing made me chuckle! What a great image.
I'm so happy we met on twitter as well, people say that modern technology is making us less sociable and in some ways that is true but if you use it wisely it can be to your advantage and open some very exciting doors :-)
Look forward to keeping in touch with you and reading more on your blog.

    2. Now you just made me smile from ear to ear! You are right on - social media can bring people together. Keeping it in its place is helpful or it does become 'anti-social' media. I for one am so happy we connected. Have a wonderful day! XO
