Natural Cleaning - Bicarb and Vinegar

December 07, 2013

Hi all,

As per my video, here are the details on some great uses for Bicarbonate of Soda and Vinegar:

Unblock Smelly Drains!
1 Cup of Bicarb down the offending drain - leave for at least one hour or over night. Pour approx 1 cup of vinegar (slowly!) down after enough time has passed. This will clean out your drains and get rid of any odour.

Dishwasher Maintenance
Give the filter a good rinse out to get rid of any food debris.
1 Cup of Bicarb across the bottom and sides of the dishwasher.
Leave for at least an hour.
Stand a bowl half full of vinegar upright on the top shelf of the dishwasher.
Put on a normal cycle - it will be gleaming and very fresh after!

De-Scale your Kettle and other Steam Appliances
Vinegar is great for cutting through lime scale so it is perfect for de-scaling your steam appliances.
Pour 1 cup of vinegar into the kettle
Boil the kettle
Leave to sit for a bit (to cool down)
Scrub any left over lime scale off with a microfibre cloth
Boil it a few times with fresh water

Apply this technique to any other steam appliance e.g. steam cleaner, steam mop, iron, etc.

Deodorise Your Carpets
Like shake 'n vac but a more natural version!
Spread a thin layer over the carpet
Leave for about half an hour then hoover up

There are so many other uses but we would be here all day! These are my favourite ones that I use all the time.

Thanks for reading!
