Going Green Tag

February 10, 2014

There are lots of great tags out there, they keep us bloggers busy and chatting to each other ;-)

This started life as me wanting to share my 'going green' experience and then I thought... actually I'd love to know all about how some of my favourite bloggers went green. So, I thought I'd try out my luck, make a tag and throw it out there into the bloggersphere and see how it gets on...

So here is my Going Green Tag:

1. What started it all off for you?
Lots of different things all added up and eventually I decided to avoid chemicals as much as possible. SLS was a big factor - for years and years I just put up with itchy sinuses and eyes every time I had a shower, eventually I decided enough was enough, started researching possible causes... and it spiralled from there! I couldn't understand why this nasty chemical was in so many products, it got me wondering what else contained nasty chemicals.

2. What was the first thing to go? (Ingredient or product)
SLS - I had to get rid of it once I knew I was allergic/sensitive to it.

3. What are you/did you struggle to let go of?
See my *previous post* about the make up I am in two minds about. Everything else has been easy to switch out - all the natural alternatives I've found work better than the chemical filled products I used to use.

4. What has been your best find or change? (i.e a green product or a tip that you're really glad you've found/learnt)
OILS! They have changed my life for the better! I can use them in DIYs, use them to condition my hair, remove my make up, face moisturising, body moisturising, etc! I love them and am so glad I found them.

5. What has been the worst thing about going green? What has been the hardest to transition or find an adequate green replacement of?
Toothpaste and Deodorant have been difficult, I struggled to find effective and natural options that I got on well with. I am now quite happy with what I've found but it was a struggle to get there!

6. Anything else to add? Any tips or tricks to pass on?
Don't get disheartened, don't get put off if you are struggling with one thing, take it at your own pace and don't compare yourself to other people. The process to 'going green' is a long one and you will get there eventually.Learn your ingredients and check EVERY single ingredients list! Some rules to please follow:

If you do this tag firstly - thank you!

Secondly, please link back to me here at AllNaturalAspirations.com to let people know where it came from.

Thirdly, tag other great, green bloggers so that we can expand the community and exposure of all the great blogs out there spreading the green message.

I tag:
Amber - Amber's Beauty Talk
Tania - Bow Tied Beauty
Amy - Disguised by Zebras
Annie - Hello Purple Clouds
Louise - Kinder Health & Beauty
Jen - Jen's Green Skin Care
Liz - Smell's like a Green Spirit

I've left LOADS of people off so that you'll have some one left to tag ;-)

I've done a tag video on YouTube: Click Here.

Finally, it would be brilliant if you let me know you have done the tag, either via twitter or by leaving a link below. I am SO excited to read everyone's answers!

  8. Great tag Rachel! I am really loving reading all of the different blogger answers, as well as watching some of the Going Green video tags. It is so interesting to see how many of us started by switching shampoos, and currently have similar struggles with deodorant :)

Agree that we see the same themes popping up over and over - there has to be an effective deodorant out there?!
