Advert & Affiliate Links

March 16, 2014

Hi all,

I have an 'open door' policy here on this blog - everything I think, feel and do is open to you guys (if you want to know that is!!) and I'm really happy about that.

I'll only ever recommend things to you that I have personally tried and enjoyed/found to work really well. As you know I don't accept PR samples for a number of reasons read here if you haven't already, I just ask that you please don't make assumptions without reading the explanation in full.

Now, the eagle eyed among you will have noticed some adverts popping up on the right hand side of my blog... I'm so over the moon to have them there. I am ecstatic that some brands that I love are happy to be associated with my blog.

I will only allow adverts from brands I know, like, trust and feel fit in with my blog's ethos.

I also have a couple of affiliate links on my site now. These are viewed in different ways by different people - to me I have no problem with them being on a blog I read. If I click an affiliate link it doesn't cost me (the reader) anything and I don't know any difference once I am on the new site.

I decided to incorporate these on my blog after a lot of thought.

Now, you will never see my blog being 'commercialised' and you will never hear me suggest something without it being a genuine, tried and tested favourite.

I have always been someone who says, for example, 'buy any oil you can find/afford with my main criteria being: raw, organic, fair trade'. I always try to put links to products and sites, especially on my YouTube videos as think it is useful.

Basically, what I am trying to say is you won't see an affiliate link where there wouldn't be a standard link... I will only do an affiliate link if I know that I would have put a normal link there if I wasn't part of an affiliate program. I won't be looking for excuses to link loads of things for no reason!

Also, for those of you who do not like to click affiliate links I will make sure it is clearly labelled so that you have the choice not to click it.

For me, blogging isn't about earning money - it's about being part of a wonderful, friendly and supportive community. Writing is a passion of mine and has been for as long as I can remember. I love sharing information and knowledge, my blog is a great way to do so. Having said that, if I can make a little bit of pocket money while doing something I love then why not? Can anyone really begrudge me that? And, it will only ever be a little bit of pocket money - I do not see my blog as a business and I will never be ruthless enough in my decisions to treat it that way. My blog will always be MY thing and I won't sell it out or let it become something I wouldn't want to read myself.

So, in my long and rambling way, I hope I have explained why I have some affiliate links dotted here and there (none in posts at the moment, only on my 'places I love to shop' page). Also, I hope I have given you a heads up if affiliate links are something you are not keen on. any on my blog will be clearly labelled so you will always have the choice to avoid them.

Thank you for reading,

  1. Just received a cheque for over $500.

Sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them about how much money you can earn taking paid surveys online...

So I took a video of myself getting paid $500 for doing paid surveys.
