Concrete Minerals - Review and Demo

March 26, 2014

"[Concrete Minerals are] hellbent on creating sexy, richly pigmented mineral make up that's not only healthy, but reminds us why being a girl is bad ass... CM products are bold, sexy and unique, just like the beautiful people who love us!"

I wanted to tell you guys all about one of my favourite natural brands - Concrete Minerals.

You may have heard me mention them before in my Favourite Natural Make Up Tag post and other places. I first bought 10 eye shadows and one tinted lip balm a few weeks ago (back in February) and now wanted to share a more detailed review of them with you.

Matte Eye Shadows

If there is one thing Concrete minerals do well it is vibrant colours. I bought a selection of their matte colours and have found them wearable and easy to work with. All the shadow are long lasting - I have very oily eyelids that are a challenge for most shadows but concrete minerals do not budge at all, not one bit of smudging, fading or creasing.

Other Eye Shadows

I love all these colours, like the matte ones they stay put and pop with vibrant colour. I can create some gorgeous looks using these and know that they will last all day.

Vegan tinted Lip Balm - Bombshell

This is my first vegan lip balm, the ones I've bought or made before have been made with wax and I worried that it wouldn't work or stay as well... I shouldn't have worried this is by far the best tinted lip balm I have ever tried. It slides on so smoothly, just glides effortlessly across the lips and has such a great colour pay off. It's like a sheer lip stick instead of a tinted balm.

I have very fussy lips - they don't respond well to most lip products which is why I stick to my DIY lip balm. It amazes me that the tinted lip balm doesn't dry my lips out at all - it actually makes them feel softer! No other lip product has ever achieved that for me.

One thing to note - it's very heavily scented with Peppermint... which I love but if you're not keen on minty lip products then you wouldn't like this.

For me, I am happy with their ingredients. I mean, we all have our own 'green' standards and our own allergies etc but I'm happy with everything I've seen.

The website proudly states: all products 100% cruelty free, 100% Vegan, 100% gluten free, fragrance free, no parabens or 'scary preservatives' and no 'cheap fillers' like talc or bismuth oxchloride.

Where to buy

You can buy directly from their US site - worth it if you are a Beauty Blogger or Vlogger as they offer reduced prices.

You can also buy from cutECOsmetics (having a sale when I wrote this). They sell a fair number of eye shadows but I don't think they do the lip balms.

Final Thoughts

I love this brand - they are high quality with a fair price tag. The eye shadows are by far the longest lasting and most vibrant I have used yet (natural or not). Not only that but the lip balm is amazing, I would love to own the whole collection!
