Favourite Natural Make-up Tag

March 20, 2014

I love a TAG and this one is all about natural make up... awesome! Thank you very much Amber for creating this one and for tagging me (I feel so special!) You should check out her lovely blog All Naturally Beautiful for lots of gorgeous products and thorough reviews.

Lily Lolo - First Haul!
On to the questions:

What is you favourite foundation?

This is a tricky one to answer at the moment - I am currently working my way through my bareMinerals loose powder and very happy with it. It works brilliantly, feels super light, stays on well and covers without coating. Luckily neither I nor my skin have an issue with the Bismuth Oxychloride in it so I am working my way through the two jars I own (I use light for under eye concealer, fairly light for blemishes then I mix the two together for foundation).

Having said that I am looking to replace it, I've got samples of Lily Lolo, Honey Pie Minerals and The All Natural Face. I've only tried the TANF so far but I was blown away by it! The other two will need to go a long way to convince me to buy them instead!

What type of foundation do you prefer? Mineral, Liquid or Cream?

For day-to-day make up I love mineral foundation. It's got the level of coverage I want and feels like I'm not wearing anything. I would like to find a good cream one for the days/evenings where I want to look flawless - I'm going to try samples of TANF and Silk Naturals... I'll keep you up dated!

In your opinion, what company makes the best pigments for eye shadows?

My latest discovery - Concrete Minerals. They have the most vibrant, long lasting shadows I've ever seen full stop, let alone natural. full post coming soon!

Have you tried to make any of your own natural make up? If so, how did it turn out?

Hmm.. funny enough I haven't really! I've made some tinted lip balms and they are a nice formula but not a huge colour pay off... Other than that I've not tried anything! Considering I am addicted to DIY that is quite surprising!

What make up item was the hardest to switch over to a natural alternative?

For me it was changing to loose mineral eye shadows as it is quite a transition - it's not difficult it's just a learning process... a messy one! Having said that, I now reach for my loose shadows more than my pressed ones. I find them easier to work with and that they give better results.

Also, I had to try SO many different mascaras to find one I was happy with.

Do you have any holy grail natural or non-toxic make up products?

I only started buying natural make up in December last year. I had been 'natural' in every other way (skin care, hair care, cleaning products, etc) for nearly a year by then and it was the last thing to change so I don't feel ready to pin a Holy Grail title onto any products yet as I'm discovering and deciding every day.

What is your go-to non-toxic lip product?

It has to be my Lily Lolo lip slicks (lip glosses) in English Rose and clear. They go on beautifully, smell amazing and don't dry my lips out. They are non sticky and I love them!

Honourable mention must also go to Concrete Minerals for their vegan tinted lip balm in bombshell - a great pay off and very moisturising! I can't wait to try other colours.

What is your favourite natural cosmetics brand?

Ooh this is a tough one too! If I was to direct a 'newbie' to a brand it would be Lily Lolo and I am always lusting after more of their products... but... I would say my favourite brand is The All Natural Face as their stuff is so affordable and effective, shame their based in America so the stuff takes forever to get to me.

So there you have it! This was a lot of fun to answer, thank you Amber! A real honour to be tagged by the creator herself!
