Lily Lolo Lip Swatches - Lip Sticks & Glosses

April 25, 2014

So... I own a few Lily Lolo lip products... just a few.

I have seven lipsticks (new ones added for free, by accident! Long story) and five lip glosses. I don't know if you watch Shaaanxo on YouTube but she is a 'beauty guru' (oh how I hate that term) and she does some amazing make up looks on her channel. One type of video that she does is lip swatches of all one brand. I'm taking a leaf out of her book (aka shamelessly stealing her idea) and doing a video/blog post all about Lily Lolo Lip Sticks and Glosses with lip swatches of each colour.

Shannon normally has every shade in a collection or by a brand... but I have a very respectable 7 out of 10 lip sticks and a reasonable 5 out of 8 lip glosses.

You can either *watch my video* or carry on reading below.

All of my lipsticks and most of my lip glosses are in the old style packaging but they are still the same colour as the ones currently being sold.

EDIT (17/06/2014)

I have found out that Lily Lolo use Carmine in their products, you can read more here. I wanted to bring it to your attention in case this is something you try to avoid.

Formula

I really like the formula of both the lip sticks and the lip glosses, I have very sensitive lips that don't get on with many products but these have been fine. I do not find them drying or irritating at all, I wouldn't go so far as to say that either the gloss or the lip stick actually conditions my lip but that is possibly because my lips are super fussy.

One big plus point about the lip glosses is that they are not sticky at all.

Lasting Power

Don't expect these lip sticks to last 8 hours or anything, they do need re-application but this is perfectly understandable and acceptable in my opinion. The chemicals involved with making a lipstick stay on my lips are of no interest to me! I'd much rather re-apply a safe lipstick than have a long lasting chemical product near my mouth.

Prices

You can buy the new (or should I say current) style packaging from the Lily Lolo website: http://www.lilylolo.co.uk/pp+lips+0004

They are £8.99 each for the lipsticks and £7.99 for the lip glosses - although I have never paid full price for any of mine. Some websites are still selling the old packaging products at discount prices and your local TKMaxx may still have some available.

So let's look in more detail shall we?

Lip Sticks

Romantic Rose

Described as a 'rich, rose pink' by Lily Lolo website. This is my absolute, all time favourite and perfect for a natural, pretty, easy every day look.

On the lips:

Passion Pink

Described as a 'bold, fuchsia pink' by Lily Lolo website. This is such a great colour but I am not bold enough to wear it too often! I like it for when I am doing a 'look' or when I am out for something special. This is a rarely used yet still essential part of my collection.

On the lips:

Desire

Described as a 'cool, deep red' by Lily Lolo website. I like to dab this lightly on my lips and it gives me a very slight pinky red effect that looks like a very natural flush of colour.

On the lips:

Intense Crush

Described as a 'natural, coral pinky peach' by Lily Lolo website. This is quite difficult for me to wear as it has such a coral tone to it which washes me out, it's a shame as it is such a pretty colour. I do wear this but it's not my favourite.

On the lips:

French flirt

Described as a 'warm, mid-toned red' by Lily Lolo website. This is a very wearable red, I like this one more than I expected to, it is quite subtle.

On the lips:

Berry Crush

Described as a 'Deep, rich merlot shade' by Lily Lolo website. This is one of my favourites although I think I will reach for it less now that we are moving into spring and summer.

On the lips:

Demure

Described as a 'natural peach' by Lily Lolo website. This is my least favourite as it washes me out a bit and you can't really see it. I do, however, like to wear this one with 'cocktail' gloss over top.

On the lips:

Lip Glosses

Clear

Described as 'almost clear with a natural tint' by Lily Lolo website. It looks peachy in the tube but goes on pretty much clear. An essential part of my lip arsenal that lives in my handbag.

On the lips:

Cocktail

Described as a 'deep, peach, apricot with a slight shimmer' by Lily Lolo website. There was a mix up with an order I placed and I was sent a lipstick instead of a gloss then the gloss I'd ordered was out of stock so this colour was sent instead. The upside to this story is actually really like this colour (even though I wouldn't of chosen it) and I got a free lip stick, all in all not too bad! I like the slight shimmer in this gloss and the colour is actually quite flattering, ideal for this time of year too.

On the lips:

English Rose

Described as a 'sheer, dusky pink' by Lily Lolo website. This is my favourite gloss! I especially love it over Romantic Rose. The gloss on it's own is actually pretty pigmented and can be built up to a substantial colour or just one quick sweep to give a subtle tint.

On the lips:

Whisper

Described as a 'sheer, pale, dusky pink' by Lily Lolo website. This is a great nude type shade, I reach for this one a lot.

On the lips:

Bitten Pink

Described as a 'rich, ruby pink with shimmer highlights' by Lily Lolo website. This looks a lot more colourful in the tube but just doesn't quite translate onto my lips. I still like it but I wish it was more of the ruby pink you expect! Still a very regularly used gloss.

On the lips:

If you want to see the lip glosses and lip sticks 'in action' remember I have done a video, *click here* to watch it.

Do you own any of the Lily Lolo lipsticks or glosses? What do you think of them?

  1. Ooh these look really good, I have had a little wish list going for awhile now, although I think I may stick to neutrals as my for brighter shades I need something that lasts, it'd be lovely if they added some lip stains to the line. Beauty crush and french flirt look like such pretty shades...it's hard to limit as they all look nice! :) x

  5. I found this really interesting thanks :) it is so frustrating that Lily Lolo don't have good colour swatches on their website. I have a few of their lipsticks and I have just bought the lip gloss Whisper. I am hoping it will tone down Romantic Rose as I am so pale it just looks too bright and doesn't suit me :( It is interesting seeing it on you as although you describe yourself as pale Romantic Rose looks so much better and more natural on you it looks so harsh and just urgh on me.

  6. I have 5 of the lipsticks too, love 'em! It's crazy how different colours look on someone else, although it could be differences between batches too. I think my favourites have to be Desire and French Flirt.
