Lovea Sunscreen - Review & Demo

June 30, 2014

I mentioned my Lovea Sunscreen in my various holiday videos and in my recent 'haul' video. In the video I asked if a review of a sunscreen was still relevant in the latter part of June but a few people said that they would really like a video on it so here we go!

If you want to see some demo's of how well these spray and rub in then you can do so by watching my video.

Lovea Sunscreen Factor 15

This was the first ever 'natural' product I purchased and I got it from My Pure. I buy it whenever it is reduced (like now) and pay between £10-£13 for 125ml.

I really like this, it smells lovely, it soaks in well, it protects brilliantly, it doesn't leave you greasy, it's not super expensive... I could go on and on! The only thing that slightly frustrates me is the way it sprays - it kind of jets out at you rather than misting you gently. But, I can over look this small inconvenience!

I have bought this four times now and think I will always go back to it.

Lovea Sunscreen Factor 30

This one isn't quite as user friendly as it doesn't smell as nice as the factor 15, although it doesn't have a bad smell. The factor 30 does leave more of a noticeable white cast but this fade quickly and it still rubs in nicely. It sprays out a gentle mist rather than a harsh mist which gives a lovely, even coverage for you to then rub in.

We use this one on Maddie all the time she is in the sun or on ourselves when we want extra coverage.

To give you an idea of how long the bottles last - two people spraying all over twice a day will use this up within a week. We ran out on our 10 day holiday! Oops!

Ingredients: (Factor 15)

AQUA (WATER), CAPRILIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, ZINC OXIDE, DICAPRYLYL CARBONATE, MENTHA PIPERITA WATER**, ALCOHOL**,GLYCERIN, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, LAURYL GLUCOSIDE, POLYGLYCERYL-2 DIPOLYHYDROXYSTEARATE, PONGAMIA GLABRA SEED OIL, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT OIL), GARDENIA TAHITENSIS, GLYCERYL ISOSTEARATE, POLYHYDROXY STEARIC ACID, CETEARYL GLUCOSIDE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, TOCOPHEROL, PARFUM (NATURAL FRANGRANCE), XANTHAN GUM, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, ALUMINA, STEARIC ACID, CITRIC ACID, POLYEPSILON-LYSINE, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, BENZYL BENZOATE, BENZYL SALICYLATE, D-LIMONENE, LINALOOL

Ingredients of note:
POTASSIUM SORBATE – scores a 3, possible irritant
BENZYL BENZOATE– limited info, scores a 6.  ‘Associated with contact dermatitis’ ‘associated with endocrine disruption’
BENZYL SALICYLATE – limited info, scores 7.  Same as above
D-LIMONENE – scores 6, classified as an irritant
LINALOOL – possible allergen

Factor 30 includes FARNESOL which scores 4, ‘Associated with allergies and contact dermatitis’

None of the above worry me - I do not have dermatitis and the 'possible irritants' and 'possible allergens' do not affect me. It is slightly frustrating that EWG automatically set the score high when something is only an 'irritant'... if it doesn't irritate me then it doesn't worry me!

So there we have it, I am a big fan of these sunscreens and I can't see that I'll be buying anything else in the near future... in fact I just stocked up while they are reduced on My Pure ready for me next holiday in September! I've also seen them on Lucy Rose as well.

What sunscreen do you use?

  1. Great review, I haven't tried Lovea yet, but their products look nice and both of the sunscreens sound really decent x

  2. Yep, I wouldn't switch to anything else now - these are so user friendly and fuss free. Not the cheapest but cheaper than most other natural sunscreens! :-) x
