Bloom Remedies - Review

July 14, 2014

"We pride ourselves on the quality of our products and also our attention to detail"

You may have heard me mention Bloom Remedies before, I am a huge fan of theirs and I was thrilled to team up with Marie a few months ago and have her on board as an advertiser... all the more reason for me to place another order, right??

I decided it was high time I tried out a body butter from Bloom Remedies, so while I was replacing a second order for the Sleepy Time pillow mist I also decided to order the Orange, Cardamom & Geranium Body Butter and Marie very kindly sent me the Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang Rescue Balm as well! On to some reviews:

Sleepy Time Baby Pillow Mist - £8.00 for 50ml

This soft and gentle scent is designed with babies and toddlers in mind, I love how soft and subtle the smell is and I specifically chose a 'baby' version as I didn't want anything over powering or heavily scented.

I bought this for both myself and Maddie to use, I like to try and 'signal' to my brain that it is time to switch off for sleep time and I think smell is a great way to build up an association. Not only that but the smell of this spray is very relaxing - soft and soothing lavender and chamomile mix with the sweet citrus scents of orange blossom and sweet orange.

For Maddie this is her 'monster spray' that keeps her safe from monsters and nightmares. it has actually helped reduce the frequency of her nightmares, obviously this is most likely a placebo effect more than anything but I do think that pleasant smells will lead to pleasant thoughts and therefore pleasant dreams.

I can confirm that the Sleepy Time Pillow Mist is 100% effective at keeping monsters away, we have had no issues with monsters since using this spray.

Lavendula flower water*, Orange blossom flower water*, Roman chamomile flower water*, Sweet orange essential oil*, Lavender essential oil, Roman chamomile essential oil.
*Organic ingredient. Contains Geranionl, Linalool, Citral, Cirronello, Limonene - natural component of essential oils.

Orange, Cardamom & Geranium Body Butter- £8.00 50g

" of the purest ways to moisturise"

I really enjoy using this body butter, it is a different consistency to what I expected, it is like a very soft balm - which I love. It melts in beautifully and the fragrance is divine (I kept shoving it in hubby's face, "smell this! smell this!"). As I normally shower/wash in the mornings I found that the bright and refreshing smell was perfect for 'pepping' me up, having said that it is a lovely rich smell so it would still work well as a bed time bath scent too.

I have dry legs that are very sensitive to anything I put on them. I was a bit worried at first as I try to avoid anything too strong smelling on my legs as they get irritated so easily, even by natural fragrance but the quality of the oils and scents in the butter meant that I had no irritation or issues at all.

This butter contains 100% natural and organic ingredients and you can really feel the difference this makes to the quality. The only issue I have is the speed at which I am getting through the butter, at £8 I can't afford to enjoy it too much! I'm happy to repurchase again but it will need to be part of a rotation of different butters and creams.

Sweet almond oil*, Sunflower seed oil*, Shea butter*, Cold pressed olive oil*, Beeswax*, Meadowfoam oil*, Rosehip oil*, Sweet orange essential oil*, Vitamin E, Geranium essential oil*, Cardamom essentail oil*.

Sandalwood & Ylang Ylang Rescue Balm* £7.50 for 30g

"...gentle enough to use on face and body and powerful enough to eliminate problem dry skin"

The lovely Marie kindly included this as a surprise in my order, thank you very much Marie! I absolutely adore the smell of this (did you see my 'goodies' video where I got carried away sniffing it? Click here if you missed it)

I don't feel like I can give this a proper, in depth review as I don't suffer from dry patches at the moment, so I cannot comment on it's effectiveness in that scenario - although I do not doubt it would be brilliant judging by the impressive ingredients list.

I can, however, tell you that is is very good at 'rescuing' you from a stressful situation. I am a firm believer in the power of smells, oils and such when it comes to stress and well being. I have been keeping this rescue balm in my handbag and reaching for it when stressed out or worried either at home or when out and about.

In some ways I am a very calm, patient and confident person but in certain situations I get easily overwhelmed and I am a real worrier! This balm has been very useful for busy shopping trips, train journeys, family gatherings and 'discussions' with Maddie. I think if nothing else the act of taking time out to stop, apply the balm and enjoy the scent is a great physical reminder to stop and take a breath, not allowing the situation to overwhelm you.

I look forward to continuing to use this and perhaps in winter I will have some dry patches that this balm can 'rescue' me from!

Sweet almond oil*, Shea butter*, Sunflower seed oil*, Beeswax*, Coconut oil*, Cocoa butter*, Castor oil*, Sandalwood essential oil*, Benzoin essential oil*, Ylang ylang essential oil*, Geranium essential oil*, Patchouli essential oil*.

  1. Looking like a nice brand! Their packaging reminds me the one from NYR.
Great new blog design by the way! x

  2. I'm adding the pillow mist to my wishlist as I'm still scared of monsters behind the door! haha. Serious though, it sounds lush and I'm loving the sound of the orange, cardamom and geranium butter but can sometimes find butters too rich for my skin. xx

  3. It really is lovely, both Maddie and I love it. It will work wonders on monsters ;-)
The butter is amazing, I have super dry legs so I can't comment as to whether it would be too rich, I'm sure if you dropped Marie an email she would be able to advise you much better than I can!! :-) xx

  4. Thank you, I love the new design, Ria did an amazing job. The packaging is lovely considering it is a small company doing everything 'by hand'. Thanks for reading :-) x
