Better Beauty Across the Pond? Top European Eye Products - Collab with Short, Small, Sweet

August 18, 2014

Today's post is a collab with the amazing and lovely Ru from Short, Small, Sweet. This is actually the third in a month long series, make sure you go back and read the others!

Each Monday I will be telling you about the best/my favourite British and European products in certain categories whilst over on Ru's blog she will be singing the praises of her favourite American products.

This week we are covering 'eye' products:

Eye Shadow

This is a difficult one for me again as my favourite eye shadows are all American! Red Apple Lipstick, Brija Cosmetics, Silk naturals, etc. Having said that I do think that the Lily Lolo loose shadows are very pigmented and I love the three that I have.

I'm not personally very keen on the pressed Lily Lolo shadows any more, I know I used to love them but I'm just not that happy with them any more - I don't want to make a big deal about it but I did have to send all my pressed shadows back for a refund due to an issue with them.

I haven't tried them and don't personally own any, but Benecos have a great range of affordable pressed and baked shadows that I'd love to try.

I've seen others talk about Lavera Eye shadows and the reviews were positive so I may give those a try one day soon.

Eye Liner

My personal favourite black pencil eye liner is from Lily Lolo, I love how it is soft, creamy and easy to blend yet stays put all day once in place.

I also love my Neve brown pencil liner and although the texture isn't as spot on as the Lily Lolo one it is still great to use and it was half the price.

I didn't even have to think hard about what liquid liner I love - the Zao Organics one is amazing. It is a bit on the pricey side so any future liquid liners I buy will be from the All Natural Face but I really can't fault the formula of the Zao liner.

I some how completely forgot to include my FAVOURITE mascara I have tried!

I really love and plan to re-purchase my Green People Mascara.

I think it has both a volumising and lengthening effect plus it doesn't clump and it very long wearing. A winner all round with a reasonable price tag,

**End of EDIT**

At first I didn't think I had anything to suggest in this category and then I remembered lots of mascaras, most of these are great for a light and natural everyday look.

Zao Organics mascaras are very subtle and don't add a huge amount of volume or length and they are quite expensive for my over-stretched budget but they are reliable and last very well.

Personally I didn't get on with any of the Benecos mascaras but I do know that other do. They are very affordable and I have a full review here.

Lily Lolo have a mascara that they have recently re-formulated. I haven't tried it yet but it is on my list!

And then how could I write about European mascara's without mentioning the Avril volumising mascara?! This is raved about by many a blogger and I am just trying it out myself now, it is super affordable.

That covers eye products, next week is the final in our series and we are finishing strong with lip products.

Head on over to Ru's blog to find out what American eye products she loves.

  1. You forgot your Green People mascara..I loved that one on you! I like the Neve eyeliner pencils too, Ria kindly sent me two - a purple & a nude and I love them both!! Lily Lolo eyeshadows are so pretty toooooooooo xx

  2. oh my goodness!! I did!! I will have to change that now!! xx (how did I manage that?!)

  3. Been hearing a lot about Green People, I hope to try it some day! I know it's been really hard for you NOT to mention US products, but it was cool to see your UK/EU picks. <3

  4. I also wanna try Lavera eyeshadows! Loving this collab! :) xx

  5. It really has been hard!! Green People are awesome and are available on Naturisimo who ship worldwide for free, I know you are very good and much more restrained than me with your purchases but it is a great brand to try if you are ever on the look out, keep them in mind. Rach xx

  6. Ooh nooo that's a real shame :(
Mac isn't available here in Slovenia so I've never even got the chance to got into it :) x

  7. Thank you!
Well, if Lavera has your seal of approval then it will get my money eventually!! haha! I looked at Dr Hauschka but their eyeshadows contain talc which I don't think is the worst ingredient in the world BUT it is unforgivable to use such a cheap filler in a high end product!! xx
