Lyonsleaf Body Butter & Healing Calendula Cream

September 09, 2014

I may be a bit late to the party but at least I am here now. Lyonsleaf is an amazing handmade, organic, British brand. Having met the owners at the Love Natural Love Organic show and being lucky enough to try some sample size of three of their products I knew that I would need to buy the full sizes soon!

I was not sent these for review (although I must be the only green blogger that wasn't *sniff*) I purchased these with my own money from Adore Naturals.

Natural Body Butter
£12.95 for 110ml

I am a real body butter fanatic, I cannot get enough of them, it is a real passion of mine! Having said that, I am quite fussy with what I consider makes a good body butter. I love it when it is quite thick and firm to the touch but melts into an oil on contact with the skin.

This Lyonsleaf butter does exactly that; it is creamy, thick and firm in the pot but melts beautifully when you apply it. It also soaks in brilliantly so you can apply it and then get dressed straight away without any sticky or greasiness.

I am amazed at just how this can feel so moisturising and effective yet the instant I rub it in I can get dressed and even use my phone - not even any greasiness on my hands which I normally 'allow' as it's only to be expected.

"You get 100% active ingredients bursting with natural emollients, vitamins, antioxidants that fight the root causes of skin ageing."

If you would like to read in detail about exactly how and why this wonderful product works so well you can go to their website.

This butter is 100% natural and a whopping 95% Organic.

Ingredients: butyrospermum parkii [organic raw shea butter] • cocos nucifera [cold pressed organic coconut oil] • persea americana [organic, cold pressed, avocado oil] • prunus amygdalus dulcis [cold pressed sweet almond oil] • tocopherol [natural vitamin E oil] • styrax benzoin [benzoin resin] • salvia sclarea [clary sage essential oil]  • pelargonium  graveolens [geranium essential oil] • piper nigrum [black pepper essential oil] • calendula officinalis [calendula flower extract] note: the essential oils naturally contain: citral, geraniol, benzyl benzoate, benzyl cinnamate, limonene, linolool

Healing Calendula Cream
£14.95 for 120ml

As I don't have particularly sensitive skin and luckily don't suffer from eczema I wasn't going to purchase this, I nearly didn't try out the sample. I was about to pass it on to someone else when I got an itchy rash from shaving (I normally wax through winter and shave in summer) and this cream was a godsend. Instantly soothing and providing ongoing moisture and relief this made a real difference to the rash.

I also used it on a dry patched that randomly cropped up for no apparent reason under my eye and it got rid of it within two days.

Maddie had two weird little itchy bites on her neck/shoulder and I used this cream on them and I was amazed to see that the redness went down almost instantly (within an hour) and Maddie stopped scratching them.

My only concern with this product is, will I finish it before it expires? I only use it on patches and would prefer the option of buying a smaller pot for a lower price. Perhaps if you have eczema, psoriasis or any other condition you might actually get through this pretty quickly.
I love that this is made with their own, home grown Calendula. Again, their website goes into A LOT of detail about the uses and benefits of this product so click here to read more from Lyonsleaf themselves.

ingredients: prunus amygdalus dulcis [cold pressed almond oil] • butyrospermum parkii [organic shea butter] • prunus americana [cold pressed apricot kernel oil] • calendula officinalis • [calendula flower extract] • borogo officinalis [cold pressed borage oil] • tocopherol [vitamin E oil] • juniperus communis [juniper essential oil] • boswellia serrata [frankincense essential oil] • lavendula angustifiolia [lavender essential oil] • pelargonium graveolens [geranium essential oil] note: the essential oils naturally contain: citral, citronellol, eugenol, geraniol, limonene, linolool

I am really impressed with this brand and the performance of their products. The energy and ethos behind Lyonsleaf is something very special.

Have you tried any of their products? If you have any kind of skin issues I would suggest you go straight over there!

  1. Gah, I'm desperate to try the Beauty Balm but I'm still using up my Everything Balm and I won't buy another one until I've finished. I think the other butters/creams would be too rich for my skin but that doesn't stop me from being tempted! x

  3. Oooh totally irrelevant but if you like body butters that melt into an oil you'd love the Lovely Cosmetics one I reviewed not too long ago. This one sounds absolutely lovely, it's weird I didn't think I'd be a fan of the melt into oil texture but I love it it's like you're getting all the benefits of a body oil but without the grease it's brill! :) Going to give this one a try when my current one runs out xx
