Pinks Boutique

September 08, 2014

"By combining [a] desire for pure organic products with a fascination for the beautiful flowers, unique aromas and exotic ingredients ... [they] were able to create... the most inspiring complete professional and only organic spa range on the market at the time."

"Hand-made in the UK, designed for professionals, now available online for you to enjoy at home."

I was very excited to be asked by Pink's Boutique if I would like to sample a Try Me set of my own choosing. I excitedly perused their extensive set of Try Me sets  which are all currently on promotion (two £20 sets for £25!) to celebrate Organic Beauty Week (soil association) and Pink's second annual Organic Beauty Festival

After much deliberation I eventually decided that the Lemongrass Body Set* was likely to suit me best. When it arrived in the post I was delighted by the presentation of it- chocolate box stylie, wrapped in pink tissue paper and a beautiful ribbon.

The set includes 1 Lemon Grass Body Wash, 2 Lemon Grass Sugar Body Scrubs (although online it shows a picture of a set which contains one scrub), 1 Lemongrass Body Balm and 1 Lemongrass & Mandarin Body Lotion.

Upon opening each taster pot I was making silly noises like 'eek!', 'ahhh!' and 'ooh!' for anyone nearby to hear. I am very much a fresh and fruity kind of person; citrus and minty scents are usually my favourite due to their mixture of freshness, sweetness and fun. This set, of course, was perfect for me scent-wise so I couldn't wait to dive in and use it!

I will give you a quick overview of each one and then summarise the set as a whole.

Lemongrass Body Wash

I'll get this one out the way because, in all honesty, I just didn't like this. I got two uses out of the bottle because I felt like I needed a lot of product to get even a small amount of lather on my shower pouff thingy. The little pump applicator was a bit ridiculous considering the amount of product I felt I needed, I was stood there pumping away for ages! I didn't like the way it smelt or the way it (didn't) foam up. I wasn't keen on how it left my skin feeling; very dry and not very clean. Overall this was a miss for me. Sorry.

Lemongrass Sugar Scrub

I liked the smell of this scrub and it worked really well at getting the last of my (gross looking) fake tan off. When I rubbed hard it had a bit of a lather to it which I thought was interesting. I personally prefer something a bit more scrubby, this was quite soft but it still did the job and smelt nice in the process.

Lemongrass Body Balm

This was my favourite in the set. I am a sucker for balms anyway and this one was lovely. It had a nice scent, applied nicely and felt very hydrating. It didn't soak in quite as fast as some I've been loving recently (Lyonsleaf) but is was no worse than the majority of balms I've tried.

Lemongrass and Mandarin Body Lotion

I am not always a lover of lotions, I prefer balms as the ingredients tend to be cleaner and I prefer the way balms work with the skin, having said that this was a nice lotion. Again, a nice scent and it soaked in very well, I was left with a slight stickiness but also a lovely 'sheen' to my skin so all in all I enjoyed using it.

The Set

I love tester sets like this, I am always reluctant to commit to a skincare purchase without trying the product out first. This set is a great way to get a feel for the brand Pinks Boutique and for their Lemongrass range.

For £20 (currently on promotion - buy two sets for £25) I think you get a great taste of the range, it would also be a really lovely present for someone special.

I don't know how feasible it is but I'd love the idea of a 'mix and match box' for Christmas and you could add in your own choices of body wash, lotion, etc from different ranges. Having said that the control freak in me loves that they all 'match' each other!

What do you think? Have you been lucky enough to try a Pinks Boutique product in a spa? Or at home?
