Avril Mascara Review & Demo

October 04, 2014

I have been using the Avril Mascara for a couple of months and I cannot wait to share my review with you!

This is, for me, the most exciting natural mascara I have tried to date. I was initially persuaded to purchase it by a number of positive reviews from my fellow bloggers and the low, low price sealed the deal for me. I thought 'what have I got to lose?' and went for it.

I purchased my tube from French site Ma Pure Nature after stumbling across them late one night! I think the Avril mascara was on offer when I bought it, with economy delivery for a total cost of just €11.71 which is about £9.30. What a bargain... and under my magic £10 dream price for a mascara!

It was love at first swipe.

When I first applied it I loved how thick the formula felt but not 'gloopy' or messy at all. It applied really well to the lash and the shape of the wand meant I did not make a mess everywhere!

Here are my bare lashes:

I love to use this with just one coat as it gives a natural yet darkened and defined look, this is the best look I had achieved with a single coat.

I find this mascara a bit difficult to build without clumping but here are my lashes after two coats:

As you can see it is pretty dramatic and gives me length, volume, definition and it darkens up my lashes beautifully.

Aqua (water), spiraea ulmaria flower extract*, citrus aurantium amara (bitter orange) flower water*, centaurea cyanus (cornflower) flower water*, glycerin, caprylyl /capryl glucoside, anthemis nobilis flower water*, lilium hybrid flower extract, lilium candidum flower extract*, lauryl glucoside, polyglyceryl-2 dipolyhydroxystearate, sodium cocoamphoacetate, borago officinalis (borage) seed oil*, parfum (fragrance), potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, citric acid, sodium cocoyl glutamate, tocopherol, glycine soja (soybean) oil, limonene, linalool.
* Ingredients from Organic Farming
99.04% of total ingredients are natural
20.17% of total ingredients come from Organic Farming

You can see that the ingredients are very clean with only two ingredients scoring a 3 on EWG, nothing to worry about there (in my opinion).

I have been using this for a good few weeks now and I am really happy with it, especially considering the price!

I haven't experienced any irritation and my eyes are pretty sensitive. I'm happy to report that there has been no flaking or smudging at all and I find it very easy to remove, it doesn't leave my lashes 'crusty' or brittle like some can do.

This and the Green People mascara are both my favourites now.

Have you tried this? What did you think of it?

  1. this mascara didn't really do anything for me, but I love your review :) xx

  2. Great pictures! They speak volumes - literally, haha! It looks wonderful! Have you tried other mascaras too? W3LL People and La Pacifica are favorites of mine.

  3. I got this in a SoukSouk box about a year ago (I think!) and really enjoyed using it. I'm tackling some other open ones at the moment but I think I might return to this one in the end. :) Glad it worked for you too! x

  4. I think it's a great mascara anyway but when you consider the price its even better! Any others to recommend? xx

  5. I really like this mascara too. It is certainly the most volumising natural mascara I have tried and is a great price too x

  6. I love this mascara. First received it in a SoukSouk box last year and haven't used anything else since! I think I'm on my 3rd tube now and I'll continue to re-buy. Great review xx

  7. You encouraged me to buy it, when we were chatting at The Core you told me it was worth a try and that stuck with me! :-)

  8. yay, a fellow fan! You can't really fault it can you?! :-) x
