Lippy Girl Vegan Lipstick - Coral Me Maybe

October 31, 2014

"This premium line of amazing lipsticks are made with organic and wildcrafted, natural oils and waxes and only natural mineral pigments.  100% vegan, bee-free, gluten free and chemical free!"

I really, really love natural make up. I prefer to try and use vegan products where possible... so when I was told about Lippy Girl vegan lipstick I jumped at the chance to try it.

I was sent the beautiful colour Coral Me Maybe* which retails at £12.50 and is available from Botanical Brands.

Firstly, I love the quirky and sassy names for this range of lipsticks, it's a small thing but it makes me smile! I also really like the packaging, it doesn't scream 'natural' it just looks sleek and smart. I love the bright pink motif on the black, 100% recyclable aluminium tube.

I have very fussy lips and quite a lot of lipsticks make my lips dry out, I didn't find that with the Lippy Girl lipstick I tried. I think the organic, natural oils help to make these lipsticks very creamy and glossy, I really like the formula.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the pigmentation. In my case I found Coral Me Maybe to be very sheer and not very pigmented, I found that it settled into the lines/cracks in my lips if I tried to build it up.

Here is a picture of a swatch, the top line is a two swipe 'true' swatch and the bottom line is heavily swatched. As you can see, even when it is built up it is not the most pigmented colour.

Having said that, it's not the end of the word, a sheer lip colour is not necessarily a bad thing and I've found the perfect solution. If I top Coral Me Maybe with Red Apple Lipstick gloss in Honey Badger I have the most perfect corally nude colour ever!

Thanks to the nice formula and the way it works with my RAL gloss I have been reaching for this on a near daily basis, I wear it to work a lot as it is subtle yet pretty.

  1. I was just offered one of these which made me chuckle. Whilst I might not wear lipstick I can still appreciate beautiful colours and great packaging and I can see the attraction. Love how you have made this one work for you, nothing worse than waste & disappointment :)
